2.1 Update To Have Copy Paste Functions? -    #1

We heard rumors yesterday that Apple had seeded iPhone 2.1 firmware to developers. Speculation at the time was that the software would include more than just a software update, because it was version 2.1 rather than 2.0.1. Now MacNN says they have information from one of the developers that one of the new features being added is none other than the copy and paste functions everyone's been waiting for.

According to the source, the new command was found wile exploring the Localizable.strings entry under English.lproj in the iPhone WebKit framework. Within that location are several commands currently not supported by the publicly available firmware version, including cutting, copying, and pasting. It also includes a reference to "mobile radio", hinting that they may be looking in to locally supporting internet radio rather than relying on third party apps.

good...finally moving down the list -    #2
I'm glad Apple is able to "move down the list" and get to the items users want. Hope fully they'll also get to MMS soon...

With GPS, 3G, and the App Store, I've been wanting copy and paste more than I thought I would. I guess I'll keep on a clean version of 2.0, I want 2.1 the first day it comes out, then I'll jailbreak that once a jailbreak is released. There's no real reason to jailbreak yet, anyway.

If they did copy & paste and MMS, this update would arguably be the biggest one yet for some people.

2.1 update -    #5
I would like to see Apple resolve the speed issue that's currently seen by users of 2.0 when opening apps or typing a message. As for enhancements I would like the following: copy/paste, video recording, digital zoom, improved battery life while using HSPA, improved response time when using GPS, audible turn by turn directions when plotting directions in Google Maps, ability to send text message in English though for third party receiving message to see it in their native language (ie: French, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, etc) on their iPhone, the ability to easily tether to my MacBook Pro for Bluetooth/WIFI DUN to use HSPA when not in range of WIFI or in range of landline ISP, remote data wipe for MobileMe subscribers, shorten pull time response to 5 minutes instead of 15 minutes for those using email that doesn't currently offer push, ability to run third party apps in the background but also the ability to kill the process if the app crashes, ability to download ringtones from iTunes Store directly to the iPhone and lastly the ability to download apps over 10 MB while using HSPA.

Adobe already has the flash player running on the iPhone. I'd guess we'll see it by the end of the year!
