WinPwn 2.0 Released For Windows Users! -    #1

Ladies and Gents, WinPwn 2.0, the jailbreak/pwning software for Windows users running the iPhone 2.0 software, has been released. Those of you looking to jailbreak your iPhone 3G, iPod touch or iPhone running the latest firmware version can now do so. The team posted the download and the instructions on their website.

WinPwn 2.0 features:

  • Support for both 1.1.4 and 2.0

  • Custom Image Support

  • Custom Payload Support

  • iPhone 3G support

Note: They strongly suggest that if you have WinPwn 1.0 already installed, that you remove it completely before installing WinPwn 2.0, as installing the new one over the old version will cause problems. They also remind you to make sure you have the latest version of iTunes.

Instructions (from the site):

  1. First create a custom IPSW using the IPSW Builder.

  2. Click "Ipwner" and browse for the custom IPSW that you just created. This will pwn itunes and allow you to flash Custom IPSW files via DFU mode.

  3. Once you have pwned Itunes, put your phone into DFU mode (With your iPhone connected to iTunes, hold down sleep/wake and home buttons for 7 seconds until the screen turns black, continue holding for 2 seconds, then remove your finger from the sleep/wake button until iTunes recognizes it.)

  4. Once you are in DFU mode Itunes will pop up and then you can hold shift and click restore and browse to your custom IPSW file.

You can download WinPwn 2.0 from RapidShare.de or from RapidShare.com. More information is available at WinPwn.com.

Update: Before you all go and hack your iPhones, I should probably let you know that most of the apps in Installer.app and Cydia still need to be ported over to the 2.0 software. Also, there are reports that the software might still be a tad buggy. Let us know in the comments how it goes for you if you try it.

Thanks for the heads-up, Joe! You rock!

Awesome! I wasn't really missing the apps from Installer, but they're still cool to have, especially with 3G.

Congratulations to everybody! Enjoy the new software by WinPwn.

BTW i have recently brought your site a visit and I remembered it from the first time I tried to unlock my old Iphone. I worked nice and the software was working, so no probs for me. Seems to be a safe resource.

Problems with unlocking -    #13
I can't believe this. Two days ago I updated my iPhone 1st gen to Firmware 2, and since then Ive been trying to unlock and downgrade, without any success. I just tried WinPwn but it still doesn't work.

When I turn on my iPhone I only get:
SIM Locked
Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone.

So frustrating.

This is what I've done:
Downloaded a custom version 2 firmware
Downloaded and installed winpwn
Followed the instructions shown on your website
(The program log is like this:
24.07.2008 18:36:06 - This is winpwn ver.:2.0.0.1 RC1
24.07.2008 18:36:06 - Apple Mobile Device Support Version 2.0.0.33 installed.
24.07.2008 18:36:11 - Failed to load image catalog
24.07.2008 18:36:13 - Failed to load payload catalog
24.07.2008 18:37:56 - File from:C:\Users\Sammy\Desktop\iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Re store.ipsw
24.07.2008 18:37:56 - Recognized as:iPhone1,1_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw Type: IPSW_iPhone
24.07.2008 18:37:56 - Be sure to connect an iPhone!
24.07.2008 18:38:26 - Killing Itunes
24.07.2008 18:38:27 - Itunes has been pwned. You can now restore your ipsw using DFU Mode)
Tried to get the phone out of DFU (i held the two buttons down for one minute).
Turned on the phone.

What should I do?

What does it mean? -    #19
I have a problem...
I have installed winpwn and the ipod touch firmware. But when i try to load winpwn there is a message which appears saying `To run this application, you must first install one of the following versions of the .NET framework:` and i can only click on the cross or `ok`. Please help, i'm new to this and don't understand it.

Thanks
