App Store Reaches 25 Million Downloads -    #1

Within just the first weekend of the App Store's launch on Friday, July 11th, over 10 million apps were downloaded for the iPhone and iPod touch. Now, 10 days later, the store has over 900 apps available, 20% of which are free, and downloads from the store have reached over 25 million.

The App Store's user base is steadily continuing to grow, with over 6 million iPhones in the wild, and now already over 1 million iPhone 3G's in the hands of users with the App Store pre-installed. That doesn't even mention the iPod touch, which is one of the other strong drivers of App Store sales.

Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer believes that another likely driving force behind the high app sales is app prices. "More than 90 percent [are] priced at less than $10," he said during their Q3 conference call with investors. "Customers are really loving the App Store."

If its current popularity holds out, it could likely become a powerful revenue generator for Apple, with the company raking in 30% of all sales for themselves.

again, more impressive numbers to go with their quarterly update. They are just dominating the market.

They need to remove the 10 MB download cap for users over the carrier HSPA network instead of only allowing app downloads that are over 10 MB while on WIFI or when sync to iTunes. When attempting to download any apps over 10 MB from the App Store a user currently gets a pop up alert letting them know they need to download over WIFI or download to iTunes then sync to the iPhone. I found this out when attempting to download Monkey Ball but had no problem downloading Crash Bandicoot.

Realistically I'm presuming that there has to be a limit, probably set by AT&T so as to not overload their network with massive file downloads.
