Arcade games for the iPhone in progress -    #1
So, we have an NES emulator for the iPhone. We have Doom in progress on the iPhone. Still looking for more games to play on your iPhone? How about something with more variety? Well, its only a matter of time. Work is being done at this very moment on an MAME port for the iPhone.

What the heck is a MAME, you ask? MAME is short for Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator. It started with the work of a man by the name of Nicola Salmoria of creating single hardware emulators, which he later merged into one program. The first was MAME 0.1, which was released on the evening of February 5th, 1997. It was started with an open-source philosophy in mind. Today, MAME recognizes over six thousand ROM sets. There are 100 developers working on the team, but there are many others that contribute. Currently the project is being headed by coordinator Aaron Giles.

The idea is not only to bring back long-lost arcade games (as well as a few newer ones), it's main purpose is to document the hardware and software of arcade games. However, the fact remains that there are a lot of really cool games to play, thanks to MAME.

So far it appears to be running, but as usual, there are no working controls. You can view the project progress at it's Google Code page, iphone-sdl-mame. There aren't currently any download locations, though there is a designated spot for them on that page.
