AT&T To Offer Family Talk Plans For iPhone 3G - June 17th, 2008, 05:42 PM #1 |
![]() AT&T has just announced that they will be offering Family Talk plans for the iPhone 3G. Voice plans will start at $39.99/month, just like the standard plan, and an additional line will cost $9.99 a month (I assume that both plans would still require the $30/month data plan on top of that.) Chances are that this will be a popular option for some families given the phone's new $200 price, even though it's not $200 for everyone. [via Gizmodo]

If it is true, this is great!
Now I have more of an excuse to upgrade to the 3G and hand down my current iphone to my wife! |

It will be interesting to see what they do with the situation presented by Pearldrm7, where a family has one new and one older iPhone. Will it be the family calling rate + $20 + $30?? I assume so, but who knows.
Has there been any OFFICIAL word yet on whether the new $30 data plans for the iPhone 3G are going to include any SMS?? |

Thats actually really the best news as far as AT&T Prices goes that i have heard...but adding $30 per line is still too expensive....People have 3G now and dont pay extra for it.

Boy, that is true, and something I never really thought much about. All the other smartphones that AT&T offers have the same data rate, regardless of whether they are Edge or 3G. Leave it to AT&T to stick it to the little guy. As I've stated in other postings, just imagine if Verizon and T-mobile and Sprint, etc., ALL had the iPhone and were all competing with each other to earn your business. Then there wouldn't be this price-gouging. In an effort to make things more consumer friendly, Apple ended up making this less consumer friendly via their exclusivity with AT&T.

They already have this - June 18th, 2008, 08:14 AM #6 |

My girlfriend and I had the family plan before we got our iPhones. We were able to keep our plan and just add the iPhone date plan. This doesn't sound any different.

pricing error - June 28th, 2008, 11:28 AM #9 |

Also your article says family voice plan starts at $39.99 but it's really $59.99
same error in a bunch of other sites....copying and pasting articles....that's why you should do your own research. |
