Apple Announces MobileMe, Adds Push Contacts, Calendars, Email, Replaces .Mac -    #1

During Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, Phil Schiller announced that Apple will be replacing .Mac with an entirely new services called "MobileMe". The new service works on iPhones, Macs, and PCs and provides an entirely new set of services for subscribers. Priced at $99 per year (with a 60-day trial available), the service offers 20GB of storage and push calendering, contacts, and email. The new service will also include desktop-like web access to all of its features via the new Me.com site.

Using MobileMe, all contacts, calendars, and email stays in sync across all devices. When something is changed on your computer, its instantly pushed out to other computers as well as iPhones (and possibly the iPod touch). The service integrates with desktop apps such as Address Book and iCal on the Mac, as well as Outlook on the PC.

Apple has also posted a guided tour of MobileMe at Apple.com.

why is there a big deal about this? -    #2
why do i need a subscription to mobileme? If im away from my computer ill add a calendar event or a contact to my iphone and sync it back to my mac computer. i dont see a need for a mobileme subscription. business world or personal its a waste of money.

um, no -    #3
Did they not learn from .Mac? The services offered with Mobile Me are already outdated and overpriced, even before they're released. And with a super stupid name.
