Native NES emulator for iPhone -    #1
The same day the first native iPhone game emerges, so does an NES emulator for the iPhone. Programmer "stepwhite" has now brought the InfoNES core into the iPhone, and he brought Mario, Zelda, and all your favorite NES roms. It's not quite finished yet, so there are some issues, but it's a step in the right direction.

The interface is still pretty crappy; it uses an actual controller image, which, as the programmer says, "...while cute, sucks." Also, the emulator runs too slow to be playable. You can't save your status in the game either. Still, it's not a bad start.

You can download iphonenes on Google Code.

To install, place the ROMs into /var/root/Media/ROMs/NES on the iPhone. Mac users can do so by using the new file browser, iFuntastic.

Here's a video of the iPhone NES in action:

(via Google Code)

I've tried it. It's a neat idea, but it needs more work. The SpringBoard also needs scrolling capabilities if we're going to see more apps

i think it might be easier if the game was set up in landscape view so that you would hold the iphone sideways like an NES controller, but the game screen was in the middle of the controller between the d-pad and the "AB" buttons.
eh eh anyone?

the controller really isn't meant for the iphone, so i can see some major upgrades coming to make it more compatible with the touch screen

Not sure that you can. You may need to do this via another method

Installing through iFuntastic -    #9
You said you could install via iFuntastic?

I can't figure out how to do it. I can't drag anything or create new directories.... It seems you can only edit images, etc.

A and B buttons aren't in the right places.. The on-screen controller is definitely "cute"..

Doesn't look like you can do that. Sucks, but maybe in an update?

I could have sworn that it had the ability to upload and remove things. Maybe I'm crazy.
