3G Preferences Found In Firmware Beta 5? -    #1

If this turns out to be true, then this might be the most conclusive evidence of an impending 3G iPhone launch we've seen yet. A blog post at the Chronic Productions Blog writes that firmware 2.0 Beta 5 Network.plist file contains prefrences for 3G networks that can be activated somehow. Screenshot and transcript after the break.

From the blog:
Note that this is not fake, it is in the beta 5 .ipsw, but will normally not show up on an EDGE iPhone. Turning 3G on will just crash the phone if you use an EDGE phone. If you do not believe me, then decrypt the beta5 rootfs dmg, and see for yourself in /Applications/Preferences.app/Network.plist

maybe..... -    #2
I don't know but i have a hunch. Recall that the iphone sim has 3G written on it, though we know that the iphone is only edge compatible correct? But in the new SDK (apple software developers kit) it gives the option for 3G! now, i believe that instead of coming out with a 3G iphone, these current iphones actually have 3G built into them! Bcuz, the sdk is for the iphone. Why would apple give out this firmware update to edge iphone developers? Furthermore, why would there be an sdk for a phone that hasn't even come out? Also, think about the evidence. "3G" written on the sim. 3G pref in new sdk firmware. 3G fone is not even out, so why would there be an sdk for a 3g iphone wen it's not even out.

First of all, ALL AT&T sims have the 3g on them, I even have it on my AT&T Blackberry. Does this mean that I dont need to get the new 9000 Blackberry because they did not "turn it on"? Second this phone has been taken apart many times and is fact that it does not have the 3g chipset inside. Case closed!!! Sorry we are all going to be standing in line for another one soon. It is good to see that we can turn it off and on with ease. I had to go through many steps to turn off and on the 3g on my old Blackjack.

looks good, but -    #4
Well, all iPhone firmwares have settings that can be turned on by manipulating plist files. Just because its there, because clearly a 3G phone is coming sometime, doesn't mean it will be enabled anytime soon...

According to this, the new iPhone coming out will be running on the same operating system but will be different by having a 3G chipset. Since it's IMPOSSIBLE for the current iPhone to have 3G, yet the beta version of the operating system for the current iPhone has a 3G option, this obviously shows that the "new" iPhone will be exactly the same with the exception of a 3G chip.

Yes, it will be the same iPhone, only 3g, better camera, maybe second camera + some new stuff, and MAYBE GPS. There is no more space to add something more
