Peer-To-Peer File Sharing Client Ported To iPhone -    #1

I'm not entirely sure how practical this would be, but an iPhone hacker by the alias 'core' has managed to port a version of the P2P file sharing software Transmission to the iPhone's ARM processor, allowing you to torrent from your iPhone. The app is still command-line and lacks that nice GUI finish, but it's a big step.

Warning: Before you go nuts and decide to download the world wide web onto your iPhone, you should keep in mind that AT&T's EDGE network probably won't respond well to the excessive traffic, so DO NOT torrent over AT&T's EDGE network, ever. Just don't. Use Wi-Fi only for this.

Also, before you write us that angry comment about how torrents are illegal, keep in mind that there is plenty of legal media to be torrented, so not all torrenting is bad.

Lastly, torrenting on the iPhone will wear down your battery extremely fast, so be aware that your iPhone won't stay charged long while doing this. I would suggest doing it as little as possible, but that's just me.

You can download the command-line app from their homepage, wickedpsyched.net/iphone/torrent.

Why? -    #2
This app is an example that just because something CAN be done doesn't mean it should be.

That said, still cool to have so MANY apps available (even before an SDK).
