Official Dev Team 1.1.3 Jailbreak Released! [Updated x2] - January 27th, 2008, 01:22 PM #1 |
![]() It's here! The Dev Team released their official jailbreak for iPhones running version 1.1.3 this morning. It's very similar to the jailbreak released earlier this week, only without the suckiness of not working. The only difference (at least on the user's end) is that it requires your phone to be at v1.1.2. iPhones on version 1.1.1 will need to upgrade to v1.1.2, jailbreak, and then install the "BSD Subsystem" package in order for this method to work. This is because the jailbreak occurs on the iPhone itself and is therefore platform independent. This jailbreak, like the one before it, does not upgrade the phone's baseband which, in our experience, breaks things like "locate me" functionality in Maps. If you have a valid AT&T account, it may be a good idea to upgrade to 1.1.3 and downgrade to a jailbroken version of 1.1.2 before running this update. For those of you who use an unlocked iPhone, you'll want to keep away from v1.1.3 as it will re-lock your phone. We haven't tried this one yet More to come! Update [3:10 PM CST]: We've tried it and it definitely works. It certainly requires some patience, but from our end there seem to be very few issues. Our pal Mark has written up a guide over at Hack That Phone which is likely the best bet for most people. Let us know how it goes!

Terrible - January 27th, 2008, 02:40 PM #2 |

I'm sorry, folks - but can we get some more information here?
Is this for PPC Macs or Intel Macs or Windows only or what? How the heck do you get started after you dl the product. The "Read Me" file has a bunch of nonsensical instructions: 1. Copy this entire distribution to / on your iPhone/iTouch So you will have /update-prebinding-path.txt and so on # scp -r ./* root@iphone:/ 2. Run the install.sh script: # sh install.sh WTF does this mean? Copy it where? What the hell, people? |

You need to copy everything in that folder into your home folder, basically the first screen when you log into your phone.
then on mac, load up terminal and ssh into your phone with ssh root@ipaddy then enter your password then hit cd / and sh install.sh |

Here is what to do - January 27th, 2008, 04:33 PM #5 |
|
First, go to http://hackthatphone.com and follow the instructions. This will make it all very clear.
But, to answer your questions: You download the jailbreak file. Then you look at the read me. Then you get confused, like I did. Simply: Have a 1.1.2 jailbroken phone. Be sure you have Installer.app on it. Make sure you install the BSD Subsystem. Then, open Terminal.app on your mac (or you could use Fugu, etc) and install the files for the upgrade. THIS is where the scp command comes in. Put the jailbreak 1.1.3 folder on your desktop. Then in the Terminal type cd Desktop/jailbreak and then hit Tab. It will autofill the name of the directory. Then hit return. THen do the scp transfer. Then in terminal.app, type ssh root@(the ipaddress of your iphone) and return. If it asks you any questions, answer yes. THen the password (should be alpine unless you changed it). Then type cd / then type sh install.sh Then sit back and wait. BUT, see the hackthatphone tutorial, and you will be all set. Good luck. Working great for me. |

scp jailbreak-1.1.3/* root@iphone:/ then ssh into the iphone and run: cd / sh install.sh it's really not hard if you just take the directions literally... and learn a little bit of coding language. |

so couple questions...
1.) if you're on 1.1.3 are you still screwed for now (3.9 bl)? 2.) is google's locate function the only thing that doesn't work because you're not upgrading the baseband. meaning everything else works like shaky reordering and webclips? |

aaahhh!!!
k so i got to the last step where it shows this in the directions: http://www.hackthatphone.com/gif2/113-45.gif but instead of it saying that, mine said this: ** The volume LittleBear4A93.UserBundle appears to be OK. mkdir: /private/var/db/timezone: File exists mv: rename /private/var/root/Library/Keychains to /private/var/Keychains/Keychains: Not a directory mv: rename /private/var/root/Media to /private/var/mobile/Media/Media: Invalid argument mv: rename /private/var/root/Library to /private/var/mobile/Library: No such file or directory mv: rename /private/var/mobile/Library/Lockdown to /private/var/root/Library/Lockdown: No such file or directory chown: cannot access `/private/tmp/MediaCache': No such file or directory mkdir: /private/var/logs/Baseband: File exists well i restarted my phone and it looked like all was well. it was 1.1.3 with installer. well then itunes opened up and saying it couldnt read the iphone contents. i restarted my phone again and had it unplugged from the computer. when the phone turns on, its in recovery mode. help?? |

Gor it working, and it is working fairly well, but...
The installer ran 100% from the app installer and got it all working. Installed iBlackJack, iSolitaire, ContraSence. and Light. So far so good, but now..... Everything else I attempt to install crashes the installer app. Also ssh is installed and working, but I can not login. Terminal will not install, so can not use that. Any one else run into this, or know a fix?? Thanks |

About this version.......... - January 27th, 2008, 05:07 PM #10 |
|
Hi Im from Mexico and I have a doubt as I dont know very much about computers. I bought an iPhone on january 12th 2008 and it s supposed to be a 1.1.3 version, it says that it requiers to be at 1.1.2. You mean I have to downgrade from 1.1.3 to 1.1.2??? Can this new jailbreak do that?? Sorry if my question is stupid but I dont clearly understand that sentence on the news. Thanks for your support.

the installer has a jailbreak over the air on its recent files. I used it and jailbroke the 1.1.3 it worked fine but the apps that were installed before arent there anymore and iit wont let you re install them,

Can't you just use the 1.1.3 jailbreak DevTeam package that's in the installer?

oops you beat me to it. If you read the more info on that package it says you have to have the updated version of installer or else it won't work once you get to 1.1.3. That could be your problem. I'm running it now and i did install that latest version so i'll post when it's done.

I just completed all the steps to upgrading a jailbroken 1.1.1 firmware phone to 1.1.3.
After the Putty Fatal Error the phone never fully rebooted. My screen is locked on with the Apple logo stuck on the screen. It's sat there for 30 minutes now. Resetting the phone hasn't solved anything. iTunes doesn't detect the iphone either. Same goes for iBrickr. What the heck did i do wrong? Is it bricked? Or is there a way to go back? |
