Consumer Reports Finds iPhone Superior To BlackBerry

According to a study in the Consumer Reports January 2008 issue, the iPhone has managed to outperform competitors in the smartphone market, including those from their leading competitor, RIM. They argue that the iPhone's unique interface and long talk time give it an advantage over the Blackberry.

The publication argues that the iPhone's 8.25 hours of talk time, touchscreen, and mobile mail client are superior to the ones found in the BlackBerry Curve, which only has just 6.25 hours of talk time. It also ranked significantly higher in the catigory of ease of use. While the BlackBerry does have the advantage of real-time "push" email, they praised the iPhone's mail app for being easier to use. In addition, they also recommend the iPhone as the superior media phone. The BlackBerry Pearl was the only model to be given kudos for being so slim in the "compact" category.

Nonetheless, both devices received certain criticisms in the areas of service. For one, both devices currently still cling to the old EDGE internet services, providing significantly slower download speeds. Also, they were criticized in their choice to remain locked to GSM-based networks, in which the leading two companies, AT&T and T-Mobile, both fall behind the two major CDMA-based networks in terms of call quality and overall satisfaction.

My boyfreind and I desided yesterday to purchase two IPHONES and begin service with AT&T. We drove to the Apple Store last night (release day) and there was a line out the door. We left and I called all AT&T stores in the area, all were sold out except for one store promising a shipment by noon. So we headed over and there was a line of about 20-25. We were at the end of the line and waited a couple of hours in the hot sun!!!! =( When the IPHONES finally arrived, we were told that the line would cut off with my boyfriend and myself. They had one left for us. After seeing it, using it, IT'S AMAZING!!!! It's like having my labtop with me everywhere I go. Great for discrete use of internet for school or work. Has everything you need PLUS SO MUCH MORE ALL IN ONE COMPACT ATTRACTIVE APPEARANCE! Pretty user friendly of course it will take a little getting use to as will every phone. I will definately be getting one for myself. I placed an order after enjoying his for the day =)
