Native MMS App For iPhone - December 6th, 2007, 03:56 PM #1 |
![]() A native MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) app has just been released for the iPhone. The app allows you to send multimedia like photos to other people via a text-messaging, something that the iPhone isn't currently capable of. The current 0.1 version is still limited in that it only allows sending MMS messages and will not receive them. Right now the app is young and still in development, and it requires a bit of tinkering and setup to work with the provider you use, but the concept is good. Unfortunately right now it's limited to sending MMS to people that already have MMS enabled. ![]() You can learn more about the app at the author's blog. The app can be installed using the latest version of Installer.app.

I found this on a .nz tech site: - December 6th, 2007, 06:37 PM #4 |

" Great job to the developer - this has been MUCH needed by the iPhone community! It will be interesting to see how MMS receiving is implemented here.
MMS is available via installer.app (You need to add modmyifone.com/installer.xml to your source list to get it) or download the files now from here. Unzip, copy files to /Applications/MMS.app/ and chmod +x mms." I'm going to give it a whirl. What I did was to scp -r the file into /Applications. Then I ssh'd into the phone and cd /Applications ls (and it was there) chmod +x MMS.app That seemed to work. Gonna try the app out now. Settings for AT&T phones - December 6th, 2007, 08:30 PM #5 |
|
These are the settings I put in for my AT&T iPhone:
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com Proxy: 066.209.011.032 It sends. I don't know how well, because the people I have tested it on haven't replied yet. YMMV. Keep your eyes on this app. RDS |

I don't know ... - December 6th, 2007, 11:14 PM #7 |

I double checked. Those are the ones I'm using.
Make sure your WiFi is turned off. From what I read, it doesn't work if you have WiFi turned on. BTW, I use the Services.app to control the radio stuff. I think it's the easiest way to toggle that stuff on and off. RDS |

anybody actually get someone to recieve an mms yet - December 7th, 2007, 02:12 AM #9 |
|
So I have the mms app up and running and I've sent a bunch of messages to my friends and my work cells number and still I haven't recieved the mms yet and my friends told me they never got it. I know the apps in delevopment but I was wondering if anybody has actually seen some recieve the mms. U would think at least on the same network they would but so far I'm having no luck.
If anybody out there can confirm please let us know post a video or something. The iPhone needs mms and this might solve it or at least get apple to move along and develop there messaging app more. |

MMS SwirlySpace - January 19th, 2008, 03:28 PM #11 |
|
I'm currently using the iphone on tmobile network with 1.1.2 and I have the app. MMS SwirlySpace on the phone. When I send an MMS it goes through to the receiver but all they receive is the title of the MMS and a black screen. Anyone know what could be wrong? I've tried it with different receivers and the same result, the MMS makes it to the receiver but the picture just comes up black.
