iPhone Code Hints At iTunes Movie Rentals - November 21st, 2007, 06:29 PM #1 |
![]() iPhone developer Pumpkin has found something very interesting in the iPhone's lcokdown daemon file (the file responsible for authorizing your iPhone services) that further suggests that Apple might be planning some form of iTunes movie rental system. If this turns out to be true, then you would have the option of renting a movie from iTunes for a period of time and watching it on your iPhone. A string search in the lockdownd executable in /usr/libexec resulted in the following hits when searched for "rental": pumpkin:~ pumpkin$ strings /usr/local/share/iphone-filesystem/usr/libexec/lockdownd | grep -i rentalThis still isn't definitive proof yet, but it certainly is interesting. I think it's true because MacWorld 08 is just about a month away so they may be introducing this (and maybe the rumored "thin-macbook"). So let's hope so!!!
