iFuntastic Auto-Jailbreaks iPhone v1.1.1, Rocks My Socks -    #1

iFuntastic time, ladies and gentleman. BitSplit, the man behind iFuntastic, has announced that version 4.6.1 is now available. This new version, along with various other improvements, makes it super easy to jailbreak the latest iPhone software version. Once jailbroken, an iPhone is able to freely load and run third party applications and mods. On top of simply jailbreaking v1.1.1, iFuntastic can now crop and add custom ringtones.

You may remember the guide we published a while back which outlined how to jailbreak a v1.1.1 iPhone. It was quite a few steps and required some terminal knowledge. Not for the non-geek by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully, bitSplit has come up with a very simple way to perform the same steps, and in half the time.

To jailbreak, you may either start from version 1.0.2 or 1.1.1. iFuntastic will perform the necessary steps and prompt you for any necessary actions. Once complete, you can enjoy the benefits of third party apps and an improved iPhone.

Ringtones have also gotten a significant update. Now you can easily add your own custom ringtones to v1.1.1, no unshackling required! You may choose to either upload an audio file in its entirety, or use the built-in ringtone cropper to non-destructively customize any audio file for ringtone use. If you're short on ringtones or creativity, grab a few from ThemeMyPhone.com

Changes since last version:
- customized ringtone support for 1.1.1 (unshackling not required)

new functions for Intel and PowerPC:

- Downgrade firmware 1.1.1 to firmware 1.0.2
- Upgrade firmware 1.0.2 to unshackled firmware 1.1.1
- Unshackle firmware 1.1.1: combines the above two

The process is tricky, but it only requires patience and a ridiculous number of (automated) restarts and switches to iTunes and back.
Terminal, SSH, WiFi, CyberDuck, AppTapp, Installer, iNdependence:
none are required!

A wizard will guide you through each process.
You'll end up with an unshackled 1.1.1 phone, with Installer uh, installed -
ready to customize and install native applications and ringtones.

- combined Setup and Troubleshooting pages into one simplified page
- automated phone restart and recovery/dfu modes: no more need to hold down buttons!
(well, except on PowerPC - and when things go wrong...)

iFuntastic requires a Mac running OS X 10.4.9 or greater and is compatible with iTunes 7.4.1,2 and iPhone Firmware 1.0.2 & 1.1.1.

If you have installed a previous version, you may need to remove the "TempFiles1" folder from "/Users/Username/Library/Application Support/bitSplit Enterprises/iFuntastic" for this version to work properly.

You may download your copy of iFuntastic v4.6.1 here, courtesy of Twenty08.

Of note, iFuntastic is now a shareware program. Each function allows five free uses before a $5 fee is requested.

Enjoy!

You should be able to activate using iNdepenence during the "Activate" step. Just don't close iTunes while you're doing it because that's how iFuntastic knows to move on.

"Option-Restore" ?? -    #9
I am trying to unlock 1.1.1 and one of the steps says to Option-Restore from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 and wait for the error. I don't see this anywhere??? It also isn't identifying my iTunes version?

Things working good -    #13
Ran the 1.02 to 1.1.1 upgrade through iFuntastic and everything worked perfectly with no real issues. Had to un-install and re-install all my apptapp apps, but that went fine for everything but SSH.

That shows up in iTunes when your iPhone is connected.Click "Device>iPhone" on the left panel. Then click "Summary" in the center iTunes panel. To the right of version it says "Update" and "Restore". Press Option on your keyboard and click on Restore. You will then have to navigate to the 1.0.2 update in your user library>iTunes/iPhone software updates folder.

It is more fun that way it just really pisses me of when people post all this info about a program with know decernable link to said program it is lacking in intuitiveness and forsight. ( as you can see my gramar sucks too)

Good, but not perfect -    #18
While this is great news, we should not have to pay for the 1.0.2 -> unshackled 1.1.1 feature. This is the main function of the software, which is free. Don't call the software free if you have to pay to use it's main function. If anybody knows of a way to use this feature after five days without paying, let me know. Otherwise, I'm sticking iNdpendence.

Okay, I'm still in process as I type this, but I had the same issue. It didn't know what version I was running (1.1.1) so I just selected that version. In the meantime, I downloaded 1.0.2 from here: http://appldnld.apple.com.edgesuite....8_Restore.ipsw

Then when you're in recovery mode and iTunes wants you to restore, you okay through that but instead of clicking on Restore, hold down the option key and click restore and navigate to where you saved 1.0.2 and attempt to restore. You'll get that error message and you can follow the rest of the directions. Well... at least I THINK you can. I'm working on the rest of that now... But so far so good. It's just now installed the iFuntastic support and doing its thing so I think it will work...
