MobileChat 2.0 Released, Supports .Mac, ICQ, MSN, and GTalk - October 8th, 2007, 11:37 PM #1 |
![]() Today twenty08 released version 2.0 of its iPhone chat client, MobileChat. This new version, according to twenty08, is the most significant since v1.0 with more than 15 new features. While users won't see much of a change at the front-end, the back-end has gotten a total overhaul. Of course, they've also added support for .Mac, ICQ, GTalk, and MSN accounts. Full feature list after the jump!
MobileChat (currently) works on iPhone software version 1.0.2 and earlier. You can download it via Nullriver's AppTapp.

Disappointing... - October 9th, 2007, 12:03 AM #2 |
|
Finally! GTalk capability!
However, I can't get gtalk to work. It quits every time I try to connect. (Must I enter my username or username@gmail.com - I tried both, but nothing works - username quits after you try to connect, username@gmail.com connects, connects, but can't connect - I thus assume that you just enter the username (not @gmail.com) but it makes it quit. Seems unstable, has quit several times. Also, with testing on EDGE, it is slower than Apollo - it takes about 2-3 seconds for to send/receive messages. It's a full 2 seconds slower than Apollo. Again, disappointed. (Correction: it sped up to a perfect speed, it's okay now...) You can't log in all accounts at once (that is ridiculous!!), nor can I edit an account after it is added. I must delete it, then re-enter the information. Also, you need some type of icon to distinguish between all the accounts - e.g. my aim and gtalk are the same usernames. That is poorly done. Very disappointed, I am hoping for an update quickly. I will stick to Apollo, which is clean, smooth, and slick. Can't wait for Apollo to get gTalk capability. Same problems here - No Gtalk - October 9th, 2007, 10:29 AM #3 |
|
Was very excited about the Gtalk capability...but I can get it to log on no matter what. Same thing as user above. With Username@gmail it just stays in a perpetual "Please Wait" connecting phase, and without @gmail, it just boots me out of the program. Mobile Chat has no problem with my AIM account, so I assume it is a specific Gtalk problem...
Not that I don't appreciate the program... Thanks for all the hard work! |

gtalk doesn't work
freezes and auto-quits. It did log in once, but didn't load the buddy list. Bit Buggy still. *******Improvements to aim make it better than Apollo again. hurray for alias support |
