EyeTV Updated, Re-Updated Without 3G Streaming - October 20th, 2009, 10:27 PM #1 |
|
The last time we told you about Elgado's EyeTV [App Store, $4.99], the app that streams TV to your iPhone from your Mac, version 1.0 had been pulled from the App Store at AT&T's request because of a recently discovered "easter egg" that enabled said streaming over AT&T's 3G network. There's been some confusion since then, but Elgado was nice enough to contact us and straighten things out. A few websites were reporting earlier today that EyeTV was back and still had 3D streaming, causing a lot of confusion for a lot of people (ourselves included). Since then, Elgado explained to us that version 1.0 was re-released again by mistake instead of the 3G-less version. They also restated that the "easter egg" was in fact left in the release version by mistake and was supposed to be removed before it was released. EyeTV has now been updated to 1.0.1, which does not have 3G streaming functionality.

Does not have 3G streaming unless you jailbreak your iPhone and use 3G Unrestictor and then it streams over 3G just fine.

Not to be too much of a jerk, but it's "Elgato" not "Elgado". And "3G" not "3D".

It's a premium app ($2.99) from BigBoss & Planet iPhones. Works with 2G, 3G & 3GS as long as you have firmware 3.0 or higher.
works with slingbox as well

unpleasant iphone/eyetv experience - October 22nd, 2009, 07:20 PM #7 |
|
i lost all use of my paid apps this morning until i updated my eyetv app to the newest version. all the apps that came with my iphone worked just fine, but none of the paid ones worked at all. i wasn't too happy about the situation. i could see if whoever (i'm assuming apple) prevented the eyetv app from working, but all my paid app? i don't see how that is fair control. and that's exactly how it felt, you will update. i hope no one else has this issue.
