AT&T Offering Cheap Refurbished iPhone 3G Units -    #1

AT&T is apparently selling refurbished iPhone 3G units on the cheap according to the company's Facebook page. The current ad is now offering the 8GB unit for $49 while the 16GB is retailing for $99.

Check the AT&T Find a Store link for local availability and the offer is good while supplies last.

My two cents is that no matter how cheap the 3G is I think the 3GS is always going to be worth the extra money if you're buying now. I find that the speed bump makes the iPhone much more enjoyable to use on a daily basis. The money saved by going 3G vs. 3GS needs to be considered in the totality of the money you're spending. Sure $100 bucks savings (or whatever it is) is great but consider that you're spending probably in excess of $800 a year. When you look at it that way, it's little additional to get a device that you'll be much happier with.

Stephen, it depends. I just bought one for my 14-year-old son. $49 was a great price.

It seems like the iPhone Alley people don't visit their own site very often. I posted the $49 iPhone offer three weeks ago.

I saw your thread regarding the 50$ dollar 3G, but I don't write the articles in the current section .

I thought you were selling one personally. In the writers' defense you had all of five words in the subject line and body of your post.

J, sorry. I didn't even know you worked at this site. You've always been great. Didn't mean to offend.
