iPhone Apps and Trial-ware - August 6th, 2009, 07:01 PM #2 |
|
I have been listening to this podcast and I disagree about trial-ware. Trial-ware is mostly prevalent in the Mac community. When I was a Windows your, everything I bought was bought outright, demo-ware or free.
To think that all iPhone users are Mac users is a fallacy in thinking. When it comes to iTunes and apps. The biggest problem is not that that there are alot of apps (which there are). It is that the apps are concentrated in a single location. With desktop apps, there is not a single location to find all of the apps. Even places like www.versiontracker.com and the like miss new apps or apps that a developer does not list. Unlike, the iTunes app store in that the developer is forced to list it to sell the app. I am not saying that we should go with the open model that the Blackberry uses, where you download the app from the developers website and install it. I have done this in the past and overall it has suck when there were issues because you had no one to turn to and with Apple using iTunes to load the app that is guaranteed to load everytime. The user experience is better and the frustration level remain low. |
