iPhone 3GS: Enable Detailed Battery Life Indicator - July 26th, 2009, 09:00 PM #1 |
|
Here's a nifty, new feature for those folks who are always concerned about their battery life. New for the iPhone 3GS, you can now display a percentage meter right next to the traditional battery life indicator. To enable it, head to Settings>General>Usage and flip the "Battery Percentage" switch on. Now you'll see the percentage of available battery right next to the battery icon! Personally I don't leave this on because it makes me think the battery is draining faster than it used to. But hey, give it a try! If you don't like it, just turn it back off. Enjoy!

3.0? or 3GS? - July 26th, 2009, 09:27 PM #2 |
|
I have the 3.0 software, but do not see this setting on my 2nd generaton iphone.
It is part of the new software that all iphones can use? Or is this feature only available on the new phone? |

For 3GS only... - July 26th, 2009, 09:48 PM #3 |

This feature only shows up for the new 3GS model. You can enable it on jailbroken phones with various software that I'm not sure of since I don't jailbreak at the moment (using 3.1 and an iPhone 3G).

However there was an article recently posted that shows how you can for the rest of us. I tried and worked! http://www.ziphone.org/2009/07/how-t...-on-every.html |

The story has been updated!

Apple's weird about this stuff sometimes... it's obviously a software update but only works with new hardware. Why? Oh well... my 3G S is only a year away

NO SSH REQUIRED - October 4th, 2009, 11:04 PM #7 |
|
there's actually a simpler way to do this without SSH on a 3G and 2G
it requires the phone to be jailbroken. in cydia download the app called SBSettings and then slide after it installs and reboots or what not slide your finger across teh status bar and the SB settings come up. click the icon on the bottom left that says more. go into extras. and click numeric battery to ON then it shows the battery life percentage. |
