iPhone 3GS Jailbreak For Mac Released, Windows Version Updated

Thanks to the combined efforts of AriX and westbaer, they are releasing a version of GeoHot's purplera1n jailbreak for the 3GS for the Mac. Both Windows and Mac versions have also received payload stability improvements, updating the the Windows version from RC2 to RC2a (although there's no reason to use it if you already have RC2 installed). You can get both the Mac version and the new Windows version at purplera1n.com.

Almost? This is way easier. It's nice not having to dick around with DFU mode.

I couldn't get Cydia to install, I opened Freeze but nothing worked, I installed it 3 times and restarted my phone, but nothing. I restored it twice and I'll try it later, but I need to sleep for now.

PS When ever Pwnage Tool comes out, there's a great app that will get those files you need for you call iFuntastic, you can find it at iFuntastic.com

Really cool app, mac only though.

Just goes to show you how useless the "Dev Team" is without Geohot. I guess they're still "delaying" their jailbreak for the good of mankind until more 3GS's are sold. (or of course they figure out what Geohot did)

No, the team is just waiting for 3.1 to come out and they'll jailbreak that so that they don't have to do a release right now JUST for the 3G S. This way they'll release PwnageTool and Redsn0w and it will work for all 3 phones in one fell swoop.

You make it sound like the team works for Apple or something.

No, I'm just responding to how the Dev Team always comes up with "some" reason for delaying the release of JB/unlocks. And that's not the explanation they had on their blog. Their explanation was that they didn't want Apple creating a new firmware to block their exploit before enough people out there had the 3GS. Guess they've changed their story yet again.

I only thank the heavens for Geohot. I'm fed up with the bloated egos of those other punks.
