Information For 3GS Owners Who Want To Jailbreak - July 2nd, 2009, 08:22 PM #1 |
![]() The iPhone Dev Team has posted a notice for iPhone 3GS owners hoping to jailbreak. A jailbreak will be released relatively soon, they say, but certain files will be needed. They have a new, more reliable method for obtaining these files, but it will only work if you do it before Apple releases another update and if you don't have the OS 3.1 beta. It should also be noted that this method may update you to the 3.1 beta if it's on your computer, which would remove your chances of using Ultrasn0w in the future. Warnings aside, here is their explanation: You may have read or heard about techniques to capture files during the iTunes restore process. These will be required to jailbreak your phone in the near future, most of the methods involve icky USB snoops. Well, there is an even better and more reliable method to get your hands on those lovely files. Instructions on how to get the files are available on their blog. iClarified has also posted tutorials for both Mac and Windows.

Sounds great, I've been wondering if the 3GS would be able to get jailbroken. It's taking some extra steps but I'm cool with that. I'm also wondering what if you dont have the 3GS and you buy it with 3.1 already installed, will jailbreak become impossible? Well thanks for the info.
