Ngmoco To Release Rolando 2 On July 1st, Rolando 1 To Be Discontinued

Ngmoco has announced that on July 1st, they will be launching Rolando 2 for the iPhone and iPod touch. To celebrate the upcoming launch, they are putting both WordFu [App Store] and Dr. Awesome [App Store] on sale for just $0.99. You can check out the Rolando 2 trailer after the break.

Interestingly, they also announced that when they do, they will also be removing the original Rolando [$4.99 | App Store] from the App Store, and suggest that anyone who wants it should get it before then. they posted the following explanation:

Basically, we want the spotlight on Rolando 2 when it hits the App Store. We're not discontinuing support for Rolando, we're just discontinuing sales. And Rolando may return to the App Store in the future, but if and when it does we'll want to include Plus+ support for it.

This game looks awesome. Plus+ is like XBox Live for the iPhone. Ngmoco is kinda pioneering this for now but hopefully other game/app makers will join up too. It looks neat.

Services offered via Plus+ are game awards (like achievements or trophies on Xbox or PS3), leaderboards, a friends list and direct challenges.
