White 3GS Overheats, Turns Ugly Brownish Color -    #1

A couple of issues with the new iPhone 3GSs have shown up, but this is one that could be potentially serious. One user says his once shiny new white 3GS overheated while he was using the GPS and 3G connections for an extended period, resulting in an ugly brownish discoloration. Photos after the break.

My black iPhone 3GS barely heats up, if it does at all, no matter what I'm doing. That sounds like an extremely isolated issue.

Wow, what a nasty surprise to have with your new iPhone. I think I'd stick with a black one unless this seems to be an isolated issue?

I'm skeptical that this is a large-scale issue with the white 3GS (namely because I have the 32GB white model) and think this one case is just an isolated incident. Of course, I haven't used my 3G+GPS for long extended periods of time either, and I am still wary to try that out. I'll test it out in the near future, however, just to see if it is true and I'll report back with the outcome.

They failed to mention that it was baked in the oven at 325 degrees for 15 minutes.

Probably just a flaw in the plastic. Just like the cracking that was happening last year when the 3G first came out.

Yeah this is the first I've heard this happening and I hava a lot of friends that have the white 3gs and they said it doesnt get hot. But I'm sure its possible, hopefully this is just a defect with a few phones and not the entire line.

I have noticed my White 32gb iPhone also. Gets hot when I have aN Internet/gps connection.
Hotter than my old iPhone 3g - also I don't think the processors are as good. I love flight contorl and since upgrading I get slowdown - how can this be?! Maybe it's a software issue from the game...
Luckily I still have a White not brown iPhone! But think of allthe other internal damage this could do?!?
