Video MMS, Anti-Phishing Enabled In New iPhone OS 3.0 Beta -    #1

A few more new features have been found with the iPhone OS 3.0 beta seeded to developers yesterday. Some developers have managed to enable MMS to work on the iPhone, letting them view multimedia messages sent over SMS, such as video clips. An anti-phishing mode in Safari has also been found that authenticates websites commonly replicated as phishing scams.

The screenshot below posted by BGR shows how receiving videos on the iPhone as an MMS works. The video preview shows up inside a standard SMS message bubble, which opens and plays the video when tapped.

Left: MMS Notification, Right: MMS video embedded in message.

iSpazio reports on a new anti-phishing mode found in Safari in the new 3.0 beta. The first screenshot shows the preference pane where the anti-phishing setting is activated. The middle screen shows what the Paypal website looks like with it turned off, and the screenshot on the left shows what it looks like with it turned on in the new 3.0. The view on the left shows a green header and lock icon, indicating that the website being viewed is secure.

Kinda sad how the hacking community actually makes the phone safer.

Oh and I want pizza.
And why is Uma hugging a whale?!

Love the feature, question the cost. -    #3
Been waiting for this since I started wishing for certain changes in ilthe first update. But everytime AT&T hears Apples ideas for new features, they start to salivate while thinking about what they are going to charge for it. 3G data plan +$10. MMS +$??? A month. I really love my phone, as I type this in the all happy landscape mode, but AT&T is going to charge me for everything they can. I hope landscape testing won't cost me any more cash a month. But I'm still sticking it out. Thanks for reading. DocD

That is an excellent point, but history will repeat itself. remember way back when they got fined and went down hill, etc, etc, etc. its the same story, again. This only happens because we allow it to happen. If nobody buys their MMS plan we can give AT&T a message that we are tired of their crap. but the word NEW is a very addictive drug to most techies. Then they wake up to a $50 a month data and text plan on top of their $70 voice plan. I pay more for my data plan on my iphone then i pay for my high speed internet at home. That is ridiculous!
