Clear Armor and Invisible Shield iPhone Case -    #1
I have seen the "Clear Armor Case" and the "Invisible Shield" and how they protect the iphone from scratches. Has anyone found out if they protect the screen from cracking due to drops? My guess would be that it would certainly help as it would absorb the shock wave that propogates through the screen when you drop it by picking up the resonance on the top side where it would propogate through. But, has this been tested extensively or has anyone known anyone who has had one of these and not seen their screen crack due to drops?

I have an Agent 18 clear case and it's great but it still makes the phone about 30% thicker and I'd love to see a case that gives me drop protection but not at the cost of increasing the thickness so much.

I'm happy to say that I can't answer your question about protecting the screen from cracking, even though I have the case. But this is one of the things I'm not comfortable with. My iPod touch had a flap that flipped over the screen when I wasn't using it. I liked that a lot. I also like being able to touch the glass directly, and not through something else. The plastic is responsive, but a little less so, and the Home button is harder to press.

If anyone hears of an iPhone case that has a flap for the front, let me know.

Ive heard that the places in which they offer insurance for iphones actually wraps the iphone in this impenetrable clear shield which is almost invisible to the naked eye

I've seen them at the Apple Store, so assuming you could get them online thru apple. They're a sleeve with a flip open wallet-ish cover. If I remember right they were girly: I'm picturing pink faux crocodile. Or maybe I didn't look at the manly ones.

I have the inCase Slider case and it's ugly but works. Dropped my phone when I first bought it and the screen shattered. I believe it scratched the prints off my fingers when I used it on the way to get the replacement, so I have potential for a life in crime.

Thankfully they replaced for free (at the Apple store, although bought the phone at AT&T). I used the same demeanor I use to get out of parking tickets, or maybe that wasn't necessary, but I do have an ugly case now and an in-tact screen on my free replacement phone.

The invisible sheild for the iPhone seems really good. But the only downside is that it can take a long time to get everything on right. You have to set aside alot of time for it. But yeah alot of people seem to have it on their phones. I had one for my phone. But I took it off. I don't remember why but yeah. Hahah. Invisible sheild is a good buy. In my own opinion.

Yeah. I've had 5 invisible shields now for various products over the years and I think I am done with them. The product itself is amazing. My own ability to apply it properly is terrible though. I would so much rather the corners be exposed then have those horrendous flaps that don't line up right. Erg. If I am ever at Macworld or something where they have a booth and are willing to install it for me then by all means, I'm there. I would just send them my stuff to have them apply it as well but now it would be a huge hassle to be without my phone for 2 weeks or whatever.

I'm actually not to picky about scratches on my phone because they are really, really hard to see on the white iPhone. At least it doesn't have that dreaded chrome back like the iPod touch.

Is it called "naked case" or something and if your iPhone breaks while in the case they'll refund you the difference for a new one i heard it somewhere

Yeah I would defanitly have someone do it for me. Haha. I don't think I can spend 45 min trying to get that invisible sheild on my phone. I will pay someone to do it. =)

I’m tired of using a case for my touch…it spoils the look of the device. I’ve seen similar stuff priced at $7 at www.gadgetshieldz.com

Best Buy installed the invisible shield for me. Before I purchased it, I read the reviews on the BB website and a lot of folks said it was worth the $12 to have them install it. It took about 15 minutes and worked like a charm.
