I'd just like to mention that you didn't say that the "Snow" install is the unlock part. I don't think you even mentioned it at all. It'd be good to throw that in for people who are less than observant.

I put in a blurb on step 6 mentioning what the three options were to install from blackra1n.

What are the chances of performance issues if I jailbreak? I'm not really sure what's changed these days. Is it just that one file which makes the system partition writable or more?

I honestly don't know about performance hits. I subjected my wife's 3G to this process as it was the only phone in the house I was willing to put on the new 5.11.07 baseband.

As far as Geo's program, I don't know that he provides any technical info on how it all works. They probably are using the fstab hack to make the partition writeable among other things.

I think Geo said he would post later about how the unlock works exactly.

Any stability problems? I have a friend who's jailbroken on 3.0.1 and he's had odd issues occasionally.
