hello guys,
my problem is that I unlocked the phone with the GUI from the DEV team...everything went fine unlock completed, but when I rebooted the phone the message "Incorrect Sim please reactivate with itunes" came up... connected to itunes the AT&T screen came up and said I would have to register...so no syncinc with itunes posssible....but the phone was still activated... then I restored the phone and activated it with Independence 1.2 again..in the meantime I received my confirm from iphonesimfree, so I decided to use their unlock... installed their app via Fugu and SFTP... ran their program and then the message "already unlocked" appeared, although I had done a complete RESTORE before.... and finally, the same message "Incorrect SIM please reactivate with iTUnes" came up... same AT%T screen again saying to register and no sync with itunes...so I am double a.kicked, because both possibilities do not work...and why is the phone still UNLOCKED after a whole restore???
please help me with any ideas how to solve the problem...
I am not so much into terminal, so any ideas via SFTP would be helpful...I am using a good old iMac G5...
so thanks very much in advance

After you unlock the iPhone and put in the T-Mobile card you need to use iNdependence again to activate the iPhone

I ran into this same issue and it worked like a charm!

i did the same thing and get the same message on the phone. it tells me to Activate iPhone connect to iTunes. And lower on the screen it says "Incorrect SIM Insert an unlocked and valid SIM to activate iPhone." but when i go to iTunes it just tells me that i don't have an AT&T SIM. and i'm using the one that came with the phone. I was going to switch to T-Mobile once I got it working but now i can't get it to stop saying that. I tried a restore but same thing. Any ideas? Anyone else run across this? Thanks

Dude, read the thread. Use independence http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki/index.php/INdependence

I tried that and still get the same thing. Luckily, I just bought it 2 days ago and can probably exhange it as defective (at least that's what they told me the 3 times i called and asked). I just really wish i could get it out of this mode. The whole unlock worked and I even had the Unlock icon appear on the front of the iPhone but something went wrong after I messed with it after that. So irritating.

As far as I'm aware, the iPhone dev team has only prerelease code for their unlock gui. I'm sure that when the real one comes out, that it will work a charm (and have instructions).

But yeah, if you don't get it working, I would exercise your return/exchange option just to be safe until the GUI does come out.
