According to an article by DigiTimes, Quanta Computer has received an order to construct five million iPhones from Apple that will ship later this September. Currently the only company producing iPhones is Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry). DigiTimes cites a May 29 edition of a Chinese-language Commercial Times report. Also, in contrast to the Foxconn- produced iPhones being sold in the US, the Quanta Computer-made iPhones will be "function to those from Foxconn but with a different outer design to fit different markets, the paper quoted sources at Taiwan-based component makers as saying." I'm not sure what this will mean, but if you have any idea, feel free to share it with us by clicking the "Discuss in the forums" link below.
