According to a survey conducted by Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster, iPhone sales have increased 300% as a result of the price cut announced by Apple on September 5th. Munster collected the data by doing a 50-hour survey of Apple stores in the country. <!--break-->
According to Munster, Apple and AT&T were selling around 9,000 iPhone before the 33% price cut. This puts the two companies quarterly sales at around 594,000 at September 5th. Since the companies had sold 270,000 iPhones last quarter, they would have had to have sold 136,000 more phones in order to reach the 1 million sold mark as soon as they did. This equates to selling about 27,000 phones a day, which is a 300% increase.
Munster says that this is an initial surge as a result of the price drop and will probably stabilize at a 50% increase in sales. Munster says by the end of the quarter, Apple will have sold 1.28 million iPhones total. Looks like Apples aggressive price cuts are working in their favor.
