According to engadget, HTC, makers of mobil phones and communication devices, are going to be making a big announcement in a major press event held in London (11:30am local time) on June 5, just less than a week preceding WWDC, the latest rumored iPhone announcement and release date. Thus far, HTC hasn't released any details as to what they will be announcing, but it must be important. Just look at that cool looking invitations they made for the event with that mysterious lady holding up a glowing number 5 (see above image). Elsewhere on the invitation, it mentions that the announcement will usher in ""a new mobile experience that will change the way we use and control our phones."

Sound familiar?

My Opinion:
I think that HTC is more than likely trying to ride Apple's coattails and steal some of the iPhone thunder that's been building up for the last few months. There's no reason why HTC's product can't be a revolutionary mobile device, but their timing is obviously an attempt to put a dent in Apple's glory and steal or damage some of their media hype.
