How to Change Carrier Logo on 2.1

I tried many different ways these days, but still can't make it work on my iphone 3G 2.1 (US set, with Hypersim)

My current carrier is Singtel (Singapore), it displays "SingTel" on the top left; carrier code is 52501

I uploaded a carrier.plist file with png files to unknown.bundle folder, but does not work

Anyone please help me on how to change the carrier logo?
