I've used iFuntastic on both my intel macbook for one iphone and my PPC imac for another iphone and made attempts to alter the "Received Message" tone.

I can never hear when I have a text/voicemail message. Is this something that is not possible to change?

Because it seems to go through on iFuntastic, but when updating the iPhone, it says "Communication Failure" on both computers.

I "Keep Trying" for an eternity, but that doesn't seem to work.

Any advice?

What version of iTunes do you have? iTunes 7.4 and later seem to jack up iFuntastic so you need to modify MobileDevice.framework

I tried it first on my intel before iTunes 7.4 came out. Then tried again on my PPC w/ 7.4 and encountered the same issue.

I too have had some slowing/freezing after using iFuntastic and started w/ installer.app on a third phone.

I guess none of them change system sounds then, huh?

I don't have any problems with iFuntastic. If you have the old iTunes installed and haven't upgraded before, then you should be okay. You may have a more complicated issue
