If you've been wondering about what's in store for the iPhone's first day on sale, this one is for you. The good folks over at "<a href="http://www.thechannelcheckers.com/2007/05/iphone-waiting-lists-grow-manufacturing-glitch-slows-iphone-production/" target="_blank">The Channel Checkers</a>" have been hard at work calling Cingular stores and questioning them about the big day. In total, they surveyed 36 AT&T/Cingular wireless boutiques and managed to get some interesting information.

The first question they asked was when they expected the the iPhone to hit stores. Answers ranged from June 15th all the way to July, with some even claiming August and Winter of 2007.

The second item they asked about was weather or not waiting lists were being implemented. If you remember, a few weeks ago an AT&T email went out prohibiting the use of such lists. Regardless, out of all stores surveyed, 64% claim to have customers currently in line for an iPhone. The average number of customers on waiting lists is 25, with one exception that had 1,979 people.

Obviously good news for Apple and AT&T, but not necessarily for those that aren't on one of these waiting lists. If you want to be one of the first with this year's hottest gadget, I suggest getting your name on one of those lists.

The Channel Checkers also mention they have come across some information indicating HonHai may be having some issues manufacturing the iPhones due to part delays. It's possible that with the delays, the 12m units expected may not be available by June 15th. Keep in mind, however, that Apple has projected a TOTAL of 10m iPhones sold by the end of 2008, so we may yet get our iPhones on time.
