iPhoneSIMfree, the company claiming to have the first iPhone unlocking software, might not need to sell their services as they proposed. An anonymous writer mysteriously opened up a Blogspot blog and posted that they are willing to offer $100,000 USD in cash for the right to distribute the software freely. Of course, anyone can open up a blogspot account and post whatever they feel like it, so there is a good chance that this means nothing...
but if it's true and the author seriously means business (and has a spare $100,000 to throw around), it means that the software unlock still has a chance of reaching the people.
With these new plans, they are saying that they have a new proposed release date of this Wednesday night, at 12:00AM, but the time zone was unspecified.
If they go through with it, then it means a win for both sides; iPhoneSIMfree and UniquePhones would get credit for the final, true software unlock without fear of legal actions by AT&T and make a few bucks, and we would finally get our iPhone unlock.
There aren't any details about who is making the offer, but if it works, it means that the big day that we've all been waiting for is just hours away.
