Back in January 2007, Steve Jobs announced that prices for the newly announced iPhones would be $499 and $599 for the two models, depending on size. He also mentioned that these prices were only available with a 2 year service contract from Cingular. It's now starting to look as though prepaid service may be an option.
According to The Boy Genius Report, AT&T has codes in their system that would allow the iPhone to be sold under the Go Phone Pay As You Go and Pick Your Plan (hybrid) services, and not just the assumed contract-based postpay. This screenshot is the source of our information and shows the aforementioned service methods for the iPhone. Currently, pricing behind the services are unknown, but we're assuming the iPhone will have custom plans available making it easy for customers to pick a plan that meets their needs.
