Adding a slider image to Winterboard theme?

I was following HackthatIphone's tutorial and I was curious as to how you add a slider inside your Winterboard theme's folder without having to goto the system/library etc etc folder.

Is there a way to just create a folder and a file name that maps itself (overwrites) the original one?
