what is the name of the .png file for the black app background ?

Sorry bud, the SpringBoard doesn't have a background. Most people are applying the background to an application's icon. It's not really a clean way to do it, though.

Install Summerboard. It lets you scroll you icons like a playlist if you have lots installed and puts a faded version of whatever wallpaper you have selected behind the icons.

Well if Summerboard can put a background on the Springboard, that means its possible somehow. Personally, Summerboard only lasted a few days on my phone before it started causing major crashes. There has to be some other way.
