I'm a complete newb when it comes to using the terminal and what not.. I just saw the news page about the new Installer.app, installed it, got everything working perfect. I have Launcher, Lights Off, and the NES Emulator on my phone.
The only problem is.. I have no idea how to get ROMS on the phone, hahaha.
If anyone can help me, that would be greatly appreciated. =]
Peace!

You're in luck because the installer app script jailbroke the iPhone for you. That's really the toughest part. Do you know how to use terminal at all?

I'm new to all this & had roms going in a matter of minutes.
Using Installer.app, I installed Launcher & openssh.
With OpenSSH installed, I was able to fire up my favorite FTP client and go to:
sftp://ip.of.i.phone/
& login with "root:dottie" (login:pass).
Copy ROMs to "/var/root/Media/ROMs/NES" on the iPhone, restart (to ensure NES.app reads the fresh folder), and enjoy!

It might be easier to use iFuntastic. If you don't have a Mac, you can use the instructions at http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=743 with an FTP app like FileZilla instead of cyberduck

I'm also having some trouble installing roms on the phone.
Here is what I'm using.
1. Legit AT&T iPhone.
2. v1.1.1
3. used jailbreakme.com
4. made use of that installer app and installed the NES emulator. =)
5. Installed BSD Subsystem.
That's about as far as i've gotten. How exactly and what exactly do I need to install/run whatever in order for me to log into my iphone and create these "NES" directories inorder to install roms?
I've tried downloading some Windows based application called WinSCP but I feel that I'm missing some key applications in order to log into my phone.
As of right now I keep getting an error called "Network error: Connection refused." when trying to use that WinSCP app.
I'm typing 192.169.1.xxx for HOST username is ROOT and password is ALPINE on port 22.
Is there something i'm doing wrong? Is there a good place to go to get the most updated instructions on how to do this...
Thanks for any help. =)

yes, I used winscp(google winscp) to put my roms on my phone in windows. A good source for finding out how to put roms on your iphone is youtube believe it or not. Lots of folks have posted step by step videos on how to do it. If you need help, I can probably walk you through it as well, but try youtube first.

for the host name you put the ip address of your iphone. You can find that by looking at your wifi settings for your iphone. If using version 1.1.1. firmware, which I recommend, the user name is root and the password is alpine. With winscp make sure you set the drop down menu to ftp and not the default of sftp. You should be in the root directory of your phone at this point. Then you need to create the ROMs and NES folder under the Media folder. You know how to do all of that?

is your iphone docked at your pc at this time? It should be. if you are getting a connection refused then either you don't have the right ip address or you are entering the wrong user name and password. It should look like this:
host: your iphone ip address
user name: root
Password: alpine
port: leave blank, it should find this on its own, if not then try 20 or 21
connection: FTP
do this while your iphone is docked and it should let you in. Try it a few times in a row even if it gives you an error, may take a while to sync.

Step 1: Enter your iPhone Wifi address in the "Host name" box.
Step 2: Enter the "User name" and "Password"
Firmware 1.0.2 = root dottie
Firmware 1.1.1 = root alpine
Step 3: From the drop down "Protocol" option choose "SCP"
Step 4: Click "Login" and wait until the second popup appears, not the one stating that the host is taking longer than normal to connect, but the other one.
Step 5: Enjoy your newly connected SSH'd iPhone.
Edit: I also recommend using Port 22

Unlike MAME which does not extract the iphone GBA and NES appear to need this done.

For an easier way to get the ROMs, no need for a computer, follow these instructions:

Just need to have jailbroken device with Installer 4. :)
Basically, just add http://123Locker.com to your sources in Installer.app

Scary part is I think she is only like 12. She does a great job showing you step by step how to get roms for your nes emulator. here is the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plLNA9nSnSQ
On a side note I did encounter a slight issue with the emulator sucking up all my battery life. I believe that this is due to using 2.1 . If anyone else is having the same problem, I found a decent fix that is quick and a multi tasker. download the app WinterBoard from Cydia. Y you ask? well from what I have experianced, the emulator still thinks it is running when it is shut off. Even if you turn your phone off right after this, your battery life will still continue to drain and quickly. By installing WinterBoard, you can reset your themes/backgrounds and this system reset kills the emulator and hey, you get some nice backgrounds to boot.
Im always open to suggestions if there are alternative ways to get around this issue.

I have successfully accessed my phone and have added the appropriate folders to put the roms in, then uploaded the rom files to the phone(yes they are in .nes form).
I have seen a few post with people having the same problem I'm having but not one person has responded to them... After restarting my phone I opened the NES app and it gives me an error saying there were no NES roms detected. Please tell me what else I need to do. I will recap what I have done so far...
1. installed openSSH on my iphone
2. installed netatalk on my iphone
3. installed mobilefinder on my iphone
4. installed NES on my iphone
5. used Cyberduck on my macbook to ftp into my iphone
6. in the "/var/root/media" folder I added two folders: "/ROMs/NES"
7. in the NES folder I uploaded about 20 rom files, all ending in ".nes"
8. rebooted my iphone
9. opened the NES app
10. NO ROMS FOUND!
The files are there but my NES app doesnt see it, can someone please tell me where I went wrong?
I used Quickpwn to jailbreak my iphone 3G and have the latest update (v. 2.2.1 I think) on my phone.

Someone at the beginning of this forum typed the wrong folder path to put the roms into.
The WRONG path (from an earlier post) is:
/var/root/media/ROMs/NES
When the CORRECT path is:
/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/NES
The difference is "mobile" I spent an hour messing with my settings before I figured that one out. Hope it helps!
