Let it be known throughout the land, iPhone is comin' to town! <a href="https://gullfoss2.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=268052&fcc_id='BCGA1203'" target="_blank">According to the FCC</a>, the iPhone has gained it's approval to be sold and used.
It's not as though we didn't expect this to happen, but it surely is great news to hear that our beloved iPhone has passed it's inspection. At Macworld in January, Steve Jobs told us his reasoning for announcing the iPhone so far ahead of it's release date. According to Jobs, "We're announcing it today, because with products like this, we've gotta go and get FCC approval which takes a few months. And we thought it'd be better if we introduced this rather than ask the FCC to introduce it for us." At the moment, it doesn't seem like there is anything more than a simple approval contained in these documents, but if anything else is discovered, we'll let you know.
Of note is Apple's iPhone page which still displays the message "This device has not been authorized as required by the rules of the Federal Communications Commission. This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained." Assuming this changes soon, I believe it's about time for the crowd to go mad.
This approval paves the way for the phone to be released as soon as Mr. Jobs says "Go", and lets hope he does sooner rather than later. I don't know about you, but I don't think I'll be able to wait much longer.
