Ambrosia Software has announced version 1.0.8 of iToner, their ringtone-making software for the Mac. the new software supports iTunes 7.7 and Japanese localization. The software lets you turn any MP3, AAC, AIFF or WAV file via drag-and-drop, and instantly syncs it to the iPhone. It costs $15 to register this app. You can download it here.

can someone please explain to me why anyone would buy this app when garageband makes ringtones free? if you have an iphone, you have iphoto for your photos, and since iphoto and garageband come together, it just doesnt make sense.

I bought it before GarageBand became the 08 ringtone friendly version.
iToner has no time limit that I know of. I have over 1 minute of Pink Floyd's TIME, the alarm clocks going off, as a ring tone.
Ambrosia makes great software for Macs that fill niche needs. If they make it there is a reason and it is done well and it works and is supported.
Rant complete.
When I catch my breath this weekend I will use iToner to reinstall my oversized ringtones.

I use iToner because it allows for clips longer than 30 seconds. So if I want to use a short song and not bother to clip it, it great. I can also use the whole song it I so wanted. I still use garageband to make the exact clip I want and iToner is just a management tool for me. I have a ringtones playlist in iTunes and just sync iToner with that so I don't have to individually pick the files every time I update or something. I bought it way back when there was no custom ringtones for the iPhone and have enjoyed using it since.

Drag sound file into Garage band. Bring the cursor to the beginning of the spot you like, chop chop, bring the cursor to the end of the spot you like, chop chop. Delete the unwanted parts, slide your new ringtone section to the beginning of the track, listen to it, mess with the volume and send to iTunes as a regular song (iToner) or as a ringtone (has to be shorter than 30 seconds).

i just use garage band and it is extremely easy. then you just export your song segment as a ringtone to itunes and it syncs to your phone. it works, its easy, its FREE!

can you send the clips to your cell phone if it isn't the ipod phone?
