Back in January I had the privilege to go to San Francisco for Macworld and attend Steve Jobs' keynote. As with all of the shows, it was magnificent in every way. At one of these events, you couldn't tell Steve Jobs from a rock star, but this particular keynote was different. Other than the unveiling of Apple's new iPhone, something was terribly amiss. That's right, I'm talking about that cowboy from Cingular.

I'm not sure what they've done with the tapes from the keynote, but they were definitely edited. Stan Sigman awkwardly spoke for a good 15 minutes, rambling on and on about how Cingular/AT&T was the best company on the planet and that it would make Apple's world complete with this partnership. It was so painful to listen to, so much so that we started clapping in an attempt to trick him off stage. In the end Steve Jobs had to run up and cut him off. I hear the guy has a tendency to show up for presentations in full cowboy garb. Boots and all.

The guy is nutso.

A few days ago we reported on his gift of a pre-release iPhone to the President of West Texas A&M. The audio and video of that clip was awful due to the method of recording (some craptard PDA). Anyhow, the guys back in the lab found a much better video that shows and tells all.

I hear Steve Jobs isn't too happy about this matter, and I don't blame him. Somebody needs to get this cowboy on some meds, quick. And is it just me, or does this guy look (and sound) like a televangelist?

Excited as I am, and as excited as I am to see them excited, I don't know how happy I am with Sigman's speech. I think he robbed them of a graduation for the sake of his iPhone. If he's not more careful, like a LOT more, then he could end up having a negative impact on the iPhone's publicity.
