Hey guys,

I searched the forums to see if this question has been asked and I'm astonished that it hasn't. Although, I likely could have missed it somewhere.

Will Summerboard/Customize be available from the app store? As far as I know, the developers were planning on it, however I have to wonder if Apple would allow it. Would they take the risk of having potentially tacky looking iPhones in the wild? It doesn't seem like anything here would go against the licensing agreement in the SDK, but I still think Jobsy would have a problem knowing that not all iPhones have Apple's recognizable theme to it.

Thoughts?

Well from what I know if the application messes with system folders it won't be allowed on the App store. So neither summerboard nor customize are in.

Here's and article on what won't be allowed on the SDK:

Oh yeah, good point. I am just lead to believe that a lot of potential apps, even some showcased at WWDC would make small adjustments to system folders. I mean, as long as they give it a rigorous testing, is there any real reason for not allowing this? If they know 100% beyond a doubt that its just for looks and there is no malicious code, I don't see why they wouldn't let it through. Maybe I'm not considering something. Personally, I think they just don't want anybody to potentially degrade the iPhone's iconic look, which is a shame. I really really love the custom themes, both made by the community and ones I've made myself. I'm sure you're right though... :(
