I am starting this thread for one main reason, I want to know if Apple has reached the level that Microsoft has when it comes to data, memory, ram, etc. The only product I have seen that has really won me over is of course, the iPhone! If Apple keeps coming out with more and more with the iPhone, I will start to be more and more interested with Apple. But as of right now, I believe my HP Pavilion will take any Apple desktop today. Let me know what yall think....

I think you're attempting to stir up some Mac V PC rivalry, but maybe it's a legit question ;)
So here's my question to you, have you ever used a Macintosh? Have you used OS X?
I'd like to hear why you think your Pavilion would beat any Mac.

Well I start out by saying just as everyone sitting on my side of the line with Macs OS has a completely different format which requires me to relearn the computer to do simple things. Yes, I would agree that the iPhone has a very user friendly programming, but I have friends who own the Macs and I have played around on them and just can't quite put my money into the Macs yet. The only things I can see on the Macs as being beneficial would be the great security against viruses, but that has stipulations to it also because most of your viruses are built on the Windows programming. So if everyone started moving to the Macs then you would see a lot more viruses popping up on those. I can get more processing and memory along with ram than the Macs have solely by themselves (adding a bay or extension of memory). Another plus is the price. If Apple would come out with a Mac around $1200 with all the same options my HP Pavilion has, I would be wanting to know anything and everything I can to become an owner. I am not trying to start a huge fuss about it all. All I am getting at is I don't see a need yet. Plus, the news has brought some studies out that show because of the iPhone, Macs have increased in sales. I would imagine it is because they have fell in love with their iPhone just like I have. What I wonder is if they have been disappointed because they didn't find the user friendly programming on the Macs quite like the iPhone. Post your comments and let me know what's on your mind. Am I thinking the price is too high or do I pay a premium for something I am missing? (Hopefully all that makes sense)

There are cars you drive and cars you work on. I drive my Hyundai daily and work on my Trams Am more than I drive it.
Pee Cee people work too hard. All those extra steps are so routine. To cut and paste you have to reach all the way to the last key on the bottom row where us Mac people use the key next to the space bar. It is closer, easier, and Mac was first and Micro$oft had to do it just a bit different to stay legal. Mac was first. Mac has a trash can and Windoze has a recycle bin, that PeeCee users are afraid to dump because they might need something in there.
Are we having Fun yet? The speed wars are over. The hardware being the same Mac OS is meaner and leaner with fewer instructions to search through. Did I mention stable?
How about heated seats? Once you have those anything else is just uncivilized.
Are you sure? Are you really Sure? Micro$oft is not sure, how can you be sure? Buying a Mac can not be undone. Do not do it.

Well I have 350 Gigs of memory with a 2 gig ram. I am running the dual AMD Processor and not to mention mine comes with the built in DVR for television shows to be placed on my iPhone. I paid after rebate which was not a mailin, just under $1000. I came close to purchasing a Mac at the same time I purchased my HP Pavilion. From what I have been seeing out there, they still sell the same Pavilion as me, but have increased the memory to about 500 gigs. Oh and the pavilion also comes with a memory bay for more memory, just like you can add more to the Mac. Don't get me wrong, I like the way the Apples look, but you gotta side with me here, all that I have for just under $1000, and the Apple almost equivalent, over $2000. But, I will say I like how clean the Apple programming is. So you have that there. Windows Vista... I haven't really worked with it much, but I will say that the Windows XP has been great for me. Hopefully that answer's what you asked... (and you are driving a hyundai? that makes no sense at all when you are purchasing an Apple product which is american, and you purchased a korean made car.... if you were looking for fuel economy and something that will hold value, you should have gone with a chevy cobalt or a pontiac G6, not to mention the track record both vehicles have and the cost will come back to the USA rather than Korea...but thats another story, another day and another forum)

I had no idea that Apple's processor was a bit quicker. News for me. Like i said before though, I am impressed with the Apple's but not with their price and hard drive space etc. I will tell you though, I have only recently been impressed by apple just recently when they began changing the firmware for the iphone. Plus, i didn't know this but i watched a special on Pixar the other day, i know this is way off topic but it was a cool spotlight for Jobs, and i found out that he was the one that really gave it life to live. Look at it now, smash hit after smash hit. I have a lot of respect for Jobs with the iPhone and also learning what i did. Plus, his products are made here with the USA written all over it. So give me a few years to warm up to OS, and hopefully by that time the hard drive thing and price will get better? We will see.... thanks for the convo. its been educational

As this is a Mac versus PC debate I guess we combine this one with the other one on this forum.
Just read on here (http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5365&page=2) where I explained why I guess the macs are worst switching to apple.

I am not a Nascar fan but the only Nascar that is built in the USofA is a Toyota.
The Monte Carlo was manufactured in the city of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.
That other thing was made in Mexico.:P

I believe all Nascar's are build down in the Carolina's. The new COT's are far from a production car and for race spec would not be outsourced.
On a site note, Im funning a 2.2 MBP with 4gb ram and a 360 gb hd. This is by far the best computer i've come into contact with. This speaking from an engineer's sense running PC programs such as Solidworks and Ansys.

My point was that the Monte Carlo is not made in America. The Monte Carlo is front wheel drive too. Nascar used to be based on what you an I could buy. You can't buy a rear wheel driven Monte Carlo. My comments my be dated as I no longer pay NastyCar any mind now.
Of the cars that are REPRESENTED by their plastic shells in Nascar, only the Toyota is made state side. I say state side so as not to confuse one with the new world order of here being MEXIameriDA.

My personal feelings on this matter are that you will indeed pay a little more for a Mac, but you will be much happier overall with your computer in the long hall. In my experience, I have had so many fewer problems with my Mac. I have really grown to strongly dislike Windows. Again, these are just my personal feelings, but I really do think that Macs let users save their tears of frustration for other things in life.
Also, another small factor. Macs seems to retain their value much longer than any PC I've seen. Not entirely sure why that it, but it seems to be the case.
