I've seen one live example of this and it's pretty friggin' cool....but expensive.

Has anyone had the phone custom painted from these guys? How long did it take?

it says that it ships within 2 weeks. i CANNOT live without my phone for that long--- dont' think so. it's also the biggest ripoff i've ever seen. i can't believe people pay $99 for their own or almost $400 for a new one.... absolutely insane. send me yours, i'll paint it with nailpolish and have it back within a day... $5.00

Hey that sounds great--if I wanted "Sexy Sapphire" or "Elizabeth Taylor Red" or whatever.

Actually I've seen one and it is pretty cool....2 weeks is a long time though.

I am really no expert on paints or powder coatings and such. Since the iPhone 3G was purposely made with a plastic back to allow better radio reception, would this coating be detrimental to the signal? I've followed the Colorware guys for a few years not and I think it's awesome what they do so I trust that they would have taken this into consideration. I'm interested to hear reviews once the phone is available.

No, the only thing that would mess with signal reception is some type of metal back or coating for the phone. paint and powder coatings will do nothing for a signal's strength.

Now that the 3g has a plastic back, powdercoating is out of the question however plastic is a lot easier to paint. Surprised no one was into annodizing the old backs!!
