I think we can all admit to being intrigued by the technophiles who run this site. Could we have a feature which gets in touch with the personal side of iPhoneAlley.com? I simply think the news, reviews, etc. would be much more interesting to read if I could imagine who wrote them and what they were wearing at the time.

I agree! It would be awesome if there was a personal or semi-personal aspect to the site. Here is my idea: action shots of tips, products, etc. Whenever you can, have iPhoneAlley.com site managers/writers create a post showing how they used the idea/tip/product, with a quick and fun blurb on what they think. Also, it would be great if there was a place that the readers could do the same thing. Several other tech sites already offer such a thing: ThinkGeek.com is one. Imagine clicking on a story about flying with your iPod/iPhone (http://www.iphonealley.com/news/united-announces-iphoneipod-charging-compatibility-select-flights) and seeing a reader on a plane with a pic of one of those great seats.

iPhone Alley Podcast Post (http://www.iphonealley.com/podcast/ipa-podcast-episode-9-twenty08)
You want humbling inside stuff. Tune in to the podcast and the preshow. I say preshow because someone is always late or something else is afowl. We just tune in and listen and post comments and questions that they may or may not be addressed in the show. I rant alot about the background music or like last week the lack of background music.
I know it is Saturday night and some of you have lives. But at $4.00 a gallon I have been staying closer to home lately. I stay in the cheap seats of the typing chat but sometimes I call in to make Michael feel uneasy. I am Bernie both here and there but others have different logins there and some appear as guests without taking thee time to register.
I haven't had so much fun since Twin Peaks!

But sometimes for example simple things like adding a biography page, explaining why this side was founded and what is your very own connection towards the iphone would help the readers to understand. It is much easier to read a report if you can guess the writers intention. Just my two cents.

It is all about the money. This contest and its gift card is about clicks and ad revenue.

I know, you thought a bunch of us got together and threw some money in a hat and said, "do we have enough to give away yet?" "Check the cuss bucket over there, it is getting pretty full."

The question is why do I do it?
I got nothing thread. (http://www.iphonealley.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3762)
Did you click? Did you read that list? That is why they do it? Kids in a candy store they are.
I don't even have an official iPhone Alley email with which to suck some freebies for myself to do a review on. Reviews on products that just show up on your doorstep. Click on Reviews to see who has all the toys. And we all know the one with the most toys wins.
What do they teach you across the pond over there?

Nonsense, we do it for the love! :]

Oh, and most of that swag from Macworld was crap. I gave 80% of it to my Mac user group.

Reading those lines make me think of my business ... I just see how successful this forum is, there are not that many threads in here (sure there are a lot but, be serious there are many other forums with a lot more threads). I also want to get such free giveaways ;) ,maybe somebody can give me some advice how to start such a business. ;)

It is all about the money.

HAH! Right now I would make more money working at Wal Mart. Think about that for a sec.

I know, you thought a bunch of us got together and threw some money in a hat and said, "do we have enough to give away yet?" "Check the cuss bucket over there, it is getting pretty full."

Yeah, that's about right.

@triped: Also, I think we might have something along those lines in the works.

But I guess working at Wal Mart is not half as nice as working with iphone Alley ;)

But you also have "real" jobs or do you earn enough money to live from ? I am just wondering if it is possible to live with some popular web sides. You know I am just a student but earning money on the web would be very cool so maybe you can give me some advices how to start my own business. I already worked as a Moderator for example at profusehost.net (http://www.profusehost.net/forum/showgroups.php) so I know a bit what the web business is about ;)
