Anyway, let's compare our music tastes by listing the top 5 bands you've been listening to as of late. I know I have TONS of music, but I tend to migrate from band to band every now and then.

Rank them most to least (eg 1 is the most played, 5 is least) and explain the choices if you can!

So to explain everything, I've been listening to A LOT of Weezer as of late since the new Red Album was leaked. I really enjoyed the new Pork and Beans music video which can be seen here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=muP9eH2p2PI).

I've been listening to Daft Punk a lot since I got the Alive 2007 live album which rocks. Justice naturally follows my Daft high.

I found some bluegrass covers of The Shins so that's what got me in a mood for that.

It's probably not accurate because I've been using shuffle a lot, and it counts the songs I skip. Still, it's pretty close. These are among my favs.

How's the new thrice stuff?

I heard they did a series with alchemy or something. I never got into Thrice because I thought it was crazy screamo, but from what I've heard about the new albums, it sounds like it'd be more thoughtful and instrumental.

This took a bit of investigating.. if anybody has a smart rule to make the last month of bands easier I would be interested.

Actually with further investigation it is impossible to see what my top bands are at all.. there is so much mixed in.. from classical to rock, rap and heavy metal, electronic, weird and stuff that just makes you go WTF?

Fratellis first album is terrific. I'm still getting into the 2nd album. Weezer just missed out on my top 5 this month. Good article in the last Spin mag.

I've been really bored with my music lately, so I grabbed some Mates of State. They're a married couple who do sort of alt music that's really melodic and, for the most part, quite cheerful. They rarely use guitars in any of their arrangements, but they sound fantastic.

I really like this thread. I'm sampling some of the artists listed here that I was not familiar with, and I'll say again there is a lot of good music being made, you just need to get past the idea that only good artists make it to radio. I've gotten tired of listening to most radio, they seem to be the mouthpiece of the big music industry houses. They are missing out of some great stuff.
