Well, what do you know. That old cowboy from Cingular sure seems to be going nuts with these iPhones. I wonder if Steve knows what he's done.
Tonight, The Unofficial Apple Weblog reports on a video from one of their "agents in the field" named Mikal. Stan Sigman, CEO of AT&T Wireless, was the commencement speaker at West Texas A&M where he graduated from in 1970. The video, shot by Mikal's friend on a Treo, shows Sigman gifting an iPhone to president Dr. J. Patrick O'Brien. The video is pretty terrible, and you don't really see anything. The audio sucks as well, but TUAW seems to have done a good job at deciphering the audio and gives us a rough transcript of what was said:
"This next ?announcement? may interest you more than anything...(unintelligible)...The first ?regulation? iPhone in the state of Texas is in the hands of Dr. O'Brien of West Texas A&M University. (applause) So, if you don't remember a word I've said and someone asks you about your graduation, you can say...(unintelligible)"

So really, I don't get this. Where does Sigman get one of these phones to just simply give away? I highly doubt that Steve Jobs appreciates this at all, but it is a seemingly good indication that the iPhone is nearly ready to ship.
