Windows is clearly becoming less and less prominent. Apple is taking over and I think that MSFT will soon lose dominance.
Your thoughts?

I think your absolutely right. Tho, I would actually rather people use windows. Because then you won't have to worry about as many people attacking the Mac users. The big reason Mac users don't face all the virus problems, is because no one makes them for Macs. If they get more popular, you will start to see more and more things forwarded towards mac users.

I hate to admit this, due to the fact that I am/use to be in love with Windows.
But, Microsoft has taken a turn for the worst, especially with VISTA. I just can't take my mind of purchasing a Mac.
Who knows, Microsoft is already working on the new OS, it was dubbed some number I dont remember.

I am a MacAddict. I do not even have an intel Mac out of purest devotion. The list of Macs I have owned is long. But so is the road to Mac market dominance. Apple has not made the 10% mark yet. I do believe you can say 5% comfortably around anyone though.
March 19, 2008 I purchased an Apple Mac Pro MA970LL/A Desktop (Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processors, 2 GB RAM, 320 GB Hard Drive, 16x SuperDrive)

i don't see mac domination occuring anytime soon, most of the business world uses windows and that will take a big change to make major companies switch over. even though i love my apple products i dont want to see microsoft go under because i love my 360

Mac domination what for ?
I do not want anybody to switch, it's a personal decision and those who want can stay with Microsoft as long as they like to, but please be kind and do not complain about the Mac if you do not know about. I just read so many users saying stuff like Macs are slow and ... most of them haven't even tested a Mac neither than bought their own.
As I already mentioned in a different thread I have tested both and I like the Mac more than Microsoft, but I would like the Mac to be more pro focused and not as personal focused like they are today.

Well, i agree that more and more people are switching to macs, there are even many podcasts for those specific people, but i don't think that this is anything for microsoft to worry about. As long as the cheap pcs that are being mad continue to be made then apple will still be on the backburner because i know many people who are not willing to pay the extra premium for a mac if they are just going to do simple tasks. It's as simple as that, this is why apple, if it wants a bigger market, needs to have more competative prices that are affordable to the common man.

I am just wondering why those people do not buy older macs ? I for example bought my mac mini for only 600$ + additional 200$ for 2GB Ram and an 500GB Hard drive. And this is one of the newer macs. You can get macs for example a G4 for about 160$ and it is able to run Mac os tiger so it is at least better than any windows xp computer.
I guess the problem is that people get used to computers. They use windows all day why change ? if you do not know the top you think you are the best ...

I don't think Apple will dominate Microsoft any time soon. I agree Apple is a better OS but as I'm surfing the web I don't see a lot of the software I use Mac compatible. It's kinda like a car yeah hydrogen cars are better but they're not gonna dominate gas powered cars anytime soon because they are too expensive and you would have trouble finding where to fuel it up. (I hope you guys got that analogy)

I hope it is going to be Linux which dominates the market next ! ... After the Novell deal I guess microsoft might use more and more Linux code in future and maybe finally we are going to see a Microsoft provided Linux distribution (sure you hve to pay for this :D )

Apple is certainly gaining ground, but I have to think twice as to whether or not that's going to be such a great thing in the end. Some mischievous super villain is likely to serve no other purpose in life than to write malicious code and distribute it.

Sure there are always people who try to hijack others and their computers, that is what at least some people are like. But I prefer the way to open source and apple for example gives away their base system as open source and that is what I am looking for. A world where you either configure your operation system on your own or you pay some company to give you some pre configured operation system. But all source is available to the public, it is only the configuration you pay for. That would be wonderful.

Late to the discussion....I don't know about that. While I desire to have a Mac for my home use the problems I would have with work would be impossible to overcome. Simply put Mac is not secure (ducks for the thrown fruit). I work for the Department of Defense and Apple would not allow us to modify the software. And yes...we would. We have tried Macs on government networks and they are not secure to NSA standards. Yet neither is windows but windows we can modify or buy 3rd party software for it...or even develop our own.
In that instance the government is a large purchaser of computers and software....until Apple can adapt its policies or even show it is willing to. I don't see Apple taking over as it were. Still, its certainly more accessible then it has been in past years. Take the iPhone. I love my iPhone. I have come to call other digital phones (and I have had a few) primitive by comparison. Still unless Apple will make a product specifcally for businesses I don't see them adapting it. What I mean by that is that they need to be able to remove features. Loose the camera, remove some software (no business is going to allow apps and songs and podcasts on thier office equipement). Again the governement is BIG user of blackberry's (I have one...iPhone is personal), and it is modified. My Black berry doesn't look like one off the street. I have no camera, SMS sfotware, music player, browser...all removed. I only get my office email and calls for the most part. Though I can synch contacts and calendar...just not over the network. Even still I have to leave the iPhone in my car or in my pocket (completely against federal regulations...but...). Cameras are not allowed in my building. This is true of most government buildings and contractors that work for us. Breaking into the business world is more then just enterprise email and networks. Heck the government just went through great lengths to remove USB storage devices from use. I can't attach a memory stick to my USB ports on my office computer. They don't work any more. Its about complete and total security. Apple's desire for the user experience(which is not bad...) will limit it leaving Microsoft in key areas.
Still Apple will gain MORE prominence and has....just not total domination as we have seen with Microsoft. The iPhone and iPod have given it that in. Its driven more people to look at their products then would have in past years.

I was gonna use some smart ass, sarcastic reply but realised you were being serious in your comments.
Over here in the UK MS dominate the market, always have done and always will do,period.
Basically its all down to price and availabilty methinks.
You can buy a full spec lappy, with Vista, for around £200,and thats Anywhere.
Macs are more for the "Elite" or,to be "seen with",shall we say,and @ the upper end of the market price wise too ( they have to be to pay for the Glitzy stores ).
So,to sum up_;
MS in corner shops and K-Marts ( < put that in as i know its an American site :D ) for next to nowt.
Mac in a posh store for a Kings Ransom.
That`s why Macs will never rule the world ;)
