<img src="http://www.iphonealley.com/images/storyimages/february08/16gb.jpg" align="right"/>Apparently the predictions were correct. That's right, it's here. Early this morning Apple announced the new <a href="http://www.apple.com/iphone/" target="_blank">16GB iPhone</a> for $499. They also unveiled a new <a href="http://www.apple.com/ipodtouch/" target="_blank">32GB iPod touch</a> for $499. It looks like the predictions that the falling price of <a href="http://www.iphonealley.com/news/flash-memory-price-drops" target="_blank">flash memory</a> would lead to a bigger iPhone weren't too far off.<!--break-->
"For some users, there’s never enough memory,†said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod and iPhone Product Marketing. “Now people can enjoy even more of their music, photos and videos on the most revolutionary mobile phone and best Wi-Fi mobile device in the world.â€
<a href="http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2008/02/05/faq-upgrading-to-the-16gb-iphone/" target="_blank">iPhone Atlas</a> has some details on some questions some of you might be having:
<b>Can I return my 8GB iPhone and get a 16GB model?</b>
If you purchased it 14 or fewer days ago, you can return your 8GB iPhone an purchase a 16GB model for $100 more. If you've opened the box, you'll have to pay a 10% restocking fee.
<b>Is the 16GB iPhone available in Europe? How much is it?</b>
The 16GB iPhone is available in the UK for £329 and in Germany for 499 Euros.
<b>Do I need to sign a new contract for the 16GB iPhone?</b>
No. You can pull your old iPhone's SIM out and put it into the new 16GB one, activate it in iTunes (no charge) and you're ready to roll.
<b>Can I sell my 4GB or 8GB iPhone on eBay?</b>
Technically yes, if you're so inclined. Right now iPhone's are selling fairly well, many at bids of $400, but that will definitely not last long. If you're going to try eBay, you would be wise to hurry.
