Hello:
I am having a problem with Installer just after upgrading my unlocked 1.1.2 (with the self-upgrading placed in the Installer -the former method, not this new "official" one which displays the status of the upgrading proccess on the iPhone screen). Everything works fine with my unlocked 1.1.3 except the Installer.
The first time I tried to install an application, through the Installer, everything went okay. I'd installed Converter, and it was placed on my Springboard and I was able to run it. Then I uninstalled (I was just checking if it works). But then, I tried to install Apollo, the Installer finished the download, but when the Installer was about to install the app, the Installer crashed and, of course, no Apollo icon was on the Springboard. Apollo didn't showed up into the Unistall section of the Installer neither.
I rebooted my iPhone. And when I see my Springboard... there was the Apollo icon! I tap it, try to log in (and, oddly, my Hotmail account was already placed), and the app crashed. This happens all the time. I have tried to uninstall but Apollo doesn't appear on the Uninstall section.
Now, no application can be installed on my phone, through Installer. Installer manage to "download" the application I select, but just when is about to install it, Installer crush into the Springboard. This problem does not happen when I want to install new sources from the Sources category on the Installer list.
I can't even install Openssh, which is crucial.
I think this is maybe related with the 300 MB the Installer jailbreak placed into my iPhone?
1. How can I get rid of the 300 MB of the jailbreak?
2. How can I install the Openssh? (I have no access with Fugu nor Terminal)
PLEASE don't tell me I have to restore my iPhone and start all over again...
Thanks from Lima - PerĂº.

i had the same problem as you. i could not install anything because installer would crash. i ssh into the iphone and the applications were there, but they were not showing up on my spring board. Also in customize program they were showing up. it was weird it was like they were invisible in the springboard.
Then I thought about the free disk space tool and try installing that and did not install either. so i was stuck. So i gave up and was just going to use my 1.1.3 as it was. Then something worst happen i was using customize program and it suddenly froze and shut down the iphone. I tried restarting and kept saying that my iphone was it restore mode and i need it to plug to itunes.
1.1.3 sucks!

I had the same problem. I fixed it to some degree! What i did is go to the installer and go to the uninstall and see if you have bsd subsystems there if you do hit the button on the top right to re-install. then see if openssh is there, if it is uninstall it and go to system and reinstall openssh 4.6.reboot your phone. You should now be able to see appollo in your uninstall section or it will have automatically dissapeared from your springboard.
Now your installer should work without crashing. Give it a shot! Let me know if that worked?
I am having another similar problem: I have customize installed with a few customize apps. I can run it and when i select an item or icon to change i can do so and it asks me to confirm which so far should be right! Then when i restart or get out it has never changed anything for me???

Thanks for the suggestion.
However... I can't go beyond the updating package process... just get about 40% through the update and the Installer crash into the Springboard... (And I have tried several times) so bad.
PS: I was able to install this 300 MB cleaner from the Installer (1.13 Soft Upg. Cleaner) but this haven't solved the problem neither.
Update: This is great! I tried the same method to reinstall the installer, but again crashed... and now everytime I try to open the Installer this crash into the Springboard. So now I don't have access to the Installer neither. So much for hacking.

You need to make sure you update the installer while still in 1.1.2... If you do not you will not be able to use the installer in 1.1.3.. It will crash. You can fix it if you use terminal to send the new version of the installer to the phone. Or you can go back and downgrade to 1.1.1 and then use installer and update it (the installer) the use the ijailbreak to upgrade back to 1.1.3 and the ijailbreak has a clean up package inside of installer.app under their section

You should check my post about the exact same problem. 1.1.3 seems to be extremely unstable... check out the post named "Downgrading updated 1.1.3 phones to jailbroken 1.1.2"
I dont think you'll have any other options. :)

Even I have a similar problem, I updated installer.app in 1.1.3. As soon as the update was complete iPhone went to "Slide for Emergency" mode. I can still make calls though, but and cannot do anything else.
I tried to restore to earlier version using itunes, but itunes does not reconize my iphone and says it maybe damaged.
Please help

well what you can do is go to installer, uninstall some useless apps that you're not going to use. the restart your iphone. then go internet find the source for bigboss add it to the installer and download a third apps thats called boss tool in the installer. it will transfer your fonts settings to the other partition and etc. and your installer won't crash anymore.
